Staff Highlight: Martin Bierens

We are excited to feature Martin, our curator, in this week’s staff spotlight!

Martin Bierens is the curator of the Lac La Biche Museum. He has worked in a variety of museums and cultural heritage organizations throughout Canada. This has given him the chance to gain a wide variety of skills important to museum work such as curation, collections management, research, and educational programming. He is excited about the potential of the Lac La Biche Museum as a cultural hub for the region and sharing stories that have been hidden or suppressed in the past.

He is excited to bring his unique perspective to our museum exhibits, sharing the diverse stories of the people of the Lac La Biche region, and preserving the area’s material, written, and oral culture. As a newcomer to Lac La Biche, he is looking forward to meeting you and learning more about the history of Lac La Biche.

Martin holds of BA in Anthropology from the University of Alberta, and a Master of Museum Studies from the University of Toronto.
